KNOW YOUR CHILD'S DOSHA : WHY IT MATTERS

Using the power of Ayurvedic science to soothe your child.
Have you ever wondered about the difference in children from their interest in sports to their hair color or that some are thinner or put on weight easily? No two children are the same.
Children have their own doshas and their own daily imbalances, and it can be tricky to figure out what to do to help create harmony for them.
We all know that every child is unique, but some of few challenges can be very frustrating. And if it seems like you've tried all of the advice you can get but nothing is working, the one thing you might be missing is Ayurveda.
Your Baby's Dosha : Why It's Important To Know Your Baby's Dosha?
By determining your baby’s dosha type, you will know how to soothe, heal and feed your unique baby. It will also help you better understand your child’s likes and dislikes, why your baby reacts differently to certain foods, and most importantly, ways to maintain their health and happiness.
Which dosha is my child ? It’s a question worth asking because the answer can help you with everything from understanding their personality to keeping them healthy.
Everyone contains all three dosha, Vata, Pitta and Kapha, but one or two will be stronger.
In Ayurveda, an out-of-balance dosha contributes to certain symptoms… physically, mentally, and emotionally. Learning about your child’s Ayurvedic body type will give you actionable information on how to reawaken the body’s inner guidance system. According to Ayurveda, one’s constitution (prakriti) is established at conception, cemented at birth, and it remains constant over the course of a lifetime.
Vata Baby
Does your child tend to jump from one thing to another? Is he distracted easily yet very creative? If you said yes, your child is most likely a Vata. This dosha has a flexible personality and is easier to balance than other dosha types.
The mind of a Vata child becomes restless, irritable and hyperactive as Vata is air and movement and when out of balance creates a restless child who has a hard time focusing for a long period of time and forgets quickly. Vata also lends itself to quickness in the mind and body, as well as high levels of creativity & difficulty sleeping deeply.
Vata children have light flexible bodies, so they tend to be slim or underweight. As they have variable appetites and thirst as well as variable digestive strength. Because of the dry, light, and mobile qualities of the dosha, adding the opposite to their diet and lifestyle works best. Implementing Vata diet and lifestyle works best for them.
When Vata dosha is aggravated children tend to interrupted or restless sleep, or insomnia. They are blessed with quick minds, mental flexibility, and creativity, alert and quick to act, easily excited, clear-minded. When in balance they are joyful and happy. They tend to do best in the spring and summer seasons.
In order to know your child’s dosha you need to know Prakruti of the child which is determined in the moment of conception. The other aspect is the Vikriti which is the present dosha according to age and any dis-balance. It is also ever changing. The state of your parents' doshas at the time you were conceived is primarily responsible for your constitution or your prakruti. The prakruti is a blueprint of our physical, emotional and mental tendencies.
All physical functions of the body are governed by the three characteristics: vata, pitta and kapha. Every human body is governed by these three biological forces, but in unique proportions.
We will discuss Pitta & Kapha in my next post
