AYURVEDIC HEALTH CARE SYSTEM : EMBODY YOUR TRUE POTENTIAL : STAYING HEALTHY WITH AYURVEDA

When we “do” Ayurveda the Dosha are able to function correctly and create health.

One whose doshas are in balance, whose appetite is good, whose dhatus are functioning normally, whose malas are in balance, and whose physiology, mind and senses are always full of bliss, is called a healthy person.

From the five bhutas, each of which are found in the human body, arise the tridoshas. These five elements combine with each other to form the three humors of Vata, Pitta and Kapha (also called as the Tridoshas in unison) which is the cornerstone of Ayurvedic philosophy. From ether and air, the vata dosha is created. From fire and water, the pitta dosha is created and from water and earth, the kapha dosha is created. Doshas are resting states, from which mind/body constitutional types are created. They are dynamic energy forces or inner principles within the living body which govern the entire organism. Ayurvedic theory states that all human bodies are not the same, so there are seven basic doshic prakrutis, or constitutions, arising from vata, pitta and kapha and their combinations: vata, pitta, kapha, vata-pitta, vata-kapha, pitta-kapha, and vata-pitta-kapha. It is thus possible to be uni-doshic, bi-doshic, or tri-doshic (fully balanced, which is very rare). The word roots of the tridoshas are as follows: vata, from the Sanskrit roots va which means motion, and ganthana which means sensation; thus, vata originates all movement in the body and governs mainly all nervous functions. Pitta comes from tap, which means heat, thus pitta governs mainly the enzymes and hormones, respiration for digestion, pigmentation, body temperature, thirst, sight, and courage, and secretions and excretions which are either the means or the ends of tissue combustion. Kapha is derived from the Sanskrit kena jelana phalatiiti which is the fruit or product of water. Kapha regulates the other two doshas and is responsible for the connection of the joints, the solid nature of the body and its substances, sexual power, strength and patience. Ayurvedic health care rests on determining the dosha of each individual, as from the dosha comes a general guide to most appropriate dietary patterns, activity levels and treatment options.

Vata manages all of our physiological functions, like thinking, moving, speaking, breathing, digesting, eliminating and more. Pitta is responsible for converting and metabolizing food, sunlight, visual impressions, thoughts, etc into a form our body can use. Kapha is responsible for our physical structure, such as skin, muscles, bones, organs and all fluids in the body.

Vata dosha tend to be light sleepers, who are sensitive to noise. They awaken easily in early morning hours and have difficulty falling back to sleep. This dosha tends to be more creative, energetic, and quite proficient at multi-tasking. Lifestyle and daily habits tend to be inconsistent and irregular. Pitta types tend to be good sleepers unless they have too much on their minds and stay up late working hours. This dosha usually possess strong appetites, digestion and metabolism. They are focused, goal oriented, intense, and competitive, and may be prone to heated emotions such as anger, irritability, criticism, and jealousy. Kapha dosha tends towards too much sleep. They have difficulty waking up and moving. Their appetite and metabolic processes are slow so they don’t need much food as they speak and move slowly.

Good quality Agni or digestive fire is seen as the centerpiece of health. When agni functions properly, the doshas, tissues and waste products are optimal and health prevails.

Your dosha is a road map of your wellness and disease. It can reveal everything about you, including physical and psychological functions, psycho spiritual aspects, personality, health challenges, exercise preferences, choice of friends and partners as well as how you dress, spend money, furnish your home, optimal career choices, preferred climate, physical environment and more means describes everything about you.

Vata is found in the lower part of the human torso (below the navel, urinary, bladder, pelvic region, thighs, legs, and bones), Pitta in the middle part (between the navel and chest, concentrated in the small intestine, stomach, sweat, lymph, and blood), and Kapha in the upper part (thorax, head, neck, joints and fat tissues).

Human has five senses and through these senses he perceives the external world in five different ways. The sense organs are the ears, the skin, the eyes, the tongue and the nose. Through these sense organs, the external object is not only perceived, but also absorbed into the human body in the form of energy. These five types of senses are the basis on which the entire universe is divided, grouped or classified in five different ways, and they are known as five Mahabhutas.… According to Ayurveda, the body of the individual is composed of five Mahabhutas. Similarly, other things of the world are also composed of five Mahabhutas. In the human body these five Mahabhutas are explained in terms of Doshas, Dhatus and Malas…

According to Ayurveda, the human body is composed of three fundamental categories called Doshas, Dhatus and Malas. The Doshas are three in number, the Dhatus are seven, and the Malas are three.

The Three Doshas are composed of the five Mahabhutas, but one or the other is predominant, with the other four are in lesser dominance. There can never be a state when one or the other Mahabhuta is absent totally. All five are essential to sustain life. Proper balance among these three Doshas is essential for good health.

Prakriti is specific for each individual which is determined at the time of conception. Prakriti is composed of three Gunas: Sattva, Rajas and Tamas.

Sushruta clearly describes the five Mahabhutas as being constituted by the Trigunas. According to him (S.S. III. 1.20.), Akasa is predominant with Sattva, Vayu with Rajas, Agni with Sattva–Rajas, Jala with Sattva–Tamas, and Prithvi with Tamas. Charaka and Sushruta clearly state that Vata Dosha is a combination of Akasa and Vayu, Pitta Dosha of Agni and Jala and Kapha Dosha of Jala and Prithvi.

These doshas are the ‘governing principles’ of ‘Intelligence’ that literally govern everything in the universe…and therefore each one of us. While each of us has some of each dosha & the proportion of the doshas in your ‘make-up’ will be different from those around you. Because the doshas govern ‘everything’ in the universe, everything you do, affects the balance of doshas within your mind & body. It is not possible that the Doshas are in balance at all times. How is the imbalance of the Doshas to be understood? Can this imbalance be brought back into a state of balance? If so, as is dictated by Ayurvedic principles, then how is it to be done? Vata, pitta, and kapha are each essential to our physiology in some way, so no one dosha is better than, or superior to, any other.

In fact, the particular ratio of vata, pitta, and kapha within each of us provides us with a blueprint for optimal health (otherwise known as our constitution), and garners a significant influence on our individual physical, mental, and emotional character traits—as well as our unique strengths and vulnerabilities. If you don’t know your Ayurvedic constitution, please consider setting up your Ayurvedic Profile, an assessment of both your constitution and your current state of balance. When you do, you will also receive a set of personalized recommendations designed to support you in your journey toward optimal health.

Any Imbalances in the doshas are generally caused by diet and lifestyle choices, as well as stress or emotional trauma. These disturbances tend to upset the natural state of internal equilibrium represented by one’s constitution. According to Ayurveda, everyone is born with a mixture of these three doshas. Determining your primary dosha is the first step towards finding your optimal state of balanced, natural health. If you don't know your own unique Ayurvedic body type, i recommended you to call ph nos as cited below and fix your appointment with me.

Your individual mix of doshas is called your ‘Prakriti’. It’s your individual/unique ‘mind-body’ make-up or constitution – your essential ‘Nature’ to be precise.

Vata Dosha is a combination of Sattva and Rajas Gunas means Rajasic—as Rajas Guna overtakes or is stronger than the Sattva Guna. Pitta Dosha is said to be more Sattvic in nature, though it has an element of Rajas and Tamas in it. Kapha Dosha is said to be more Tamasic in nature though it has an element of Sattva in it & no Rajas.

Ayurveda recognizes 16 types of personalities based on the classical Guna theory. Both Charaka and Sushruta Samhitas have a description of these types. According to them, there are 7 types of Sattva, 6 of Rajas and 3 of Tamas, totaling 16 types of personalities under which all people can be grouped.

Therefore Ayurveda is defined as a philosophy and science of life or longevity. It focuses as much on prevention as it does on cure, if not more. Ayurveda has evolved over thousands of years, and there are many different ways it might be practiced.
