POSTPARTUM ABHYANGA : (AFTER PREGNANCY)

An ancient healing system’s gifts to the Modern Woman.
How do we rebalance our sacred womb after birth?
According to Ayurveda, pregnancy and delivery can be the most rejuvenating experience of a women’s life, during which every cell of the mother’s body can be transformed. Unfortunately, in the Modern Life we did not get that knowledge and mothers often pay dearly with health concerns after a pregnancy.
Abhyanga is the third cornerstone to maternal care after delivery. Nothing calms vata and soothes the entire body like warm herbal oil. The oil tones the body, provides oleation helps the healing of tissues, and infuses strength and a sense of roundedness, complete relaxation and allowing yourself the gift of nourishment and love.
After birth, the mother’s hormones are usually erratic. Vata, which governs the nervous system and movement (movement of body fluids, neurotransmitters, hormones, blood and lymph circulation, elimination of wastes) in the body immensely increases. This is because all of a sudden after womb evacuation a vacuum of space has manifested (vata is predominately space).
Mum needs deep rejuvenation & strength to provide the baby with much required immunity, strength, pure and nutritious breast milk and of course, love.
To help mothers achieve optimal physical, metal and emotional health, we have formulated a post-natal care plan with called POSTPARTUM ABHYANGA that starts after birth
Postpartum Abhyanga supports hormonal balance, encourages healthy lactation, reduces pain, and helps new mothers with rest, relaxation, and sleep. It is a deeply nourishing oil body treatment that regulates the body's natural rhythms after the incredible transformation of birth. It effectively relaxes the muscles, improves the performance of the body and the nerves. Nervous disorders are prevented, the digestive system is improved and a more youthful appearance is the result. It gives strength and regenerates the body.
Promotes a healthy appearance with a vivid facial expression, the structure of the skin is improved and irritations of the skin are reduced.
Abhyanga is the most involved protocol we have learned and one we feel competent doing. Literally translated, the word means “all body parts” and it refers to the application of oil to every inch of the body. The patient is guided through seven different positions on the table so every part of the body can be reached. By applying medicated oil, allowing it to soak in for some time and then bathing the body, we quiet the mind and build a cocoon against stress and over-stimulation. Being embraced in a thin layer of oil soothes frayed nerves and brings the body back to earth from mental preoccupations. I dare say it’s the best medicine for an information-overloaded day of multi-tasking, and while doing it to yourself is truly wonderful, having it done to you is transporting.
Ayurveda isn’t a cure, but merely a balancing way-of-life that supports your body, and ultimately your soul, as you embark on the journey of life; and, if you are so destined, this journey may include the magical experience of pregnancy.

Ayurvedic Practices and Philosophy in Pregnancy
Every thought, action, and decision a pregnant mother makes is directly correlated to the health, vitality, and essentially, the life potential of the child. She must be mindful that every element, food article, aroma, sight, and sound entering or surrounding her body impacts the fetus, directing the dependent soul to a greater state or to a more weakened state of health. Holistic care relating to pregnancy becomes essential as soon as the mother and father even decide to embark on the journey of parenthood before conception even takes place.
Ayurvedic practices and principles applied to the pregnant mother and her pending child provide a sincere potential for an enriched pregnancy and birthing experience, contributing to greater mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health of the mother, child, and father. How can the modern, western-born mother implement the ancient teachings of Ayurveda as she embarks on the journey to bring a vital new life into this world? How the three pillars of life, herbal treatments, five sense therapies, and spiritual practices can be incorporated and utilized throughout the pregnancy experience.
