BOOK YOUR CONSULTATION : KNOW YOUR DOSHA

BOOK YOUR CONSULTATION : KNOW YOUR DOSHA
Understanding Your Ayurvedic Mind-Body Blueprint
Your Constitution and Its Inner Balance..Balance your health by understanding your basic constitution, or dosha balance.
Ayurveda is a science of Self understanding. By understanding your own unique nature or constitution, you can begin to understand how you interact with your environment and thus make choices that will lead you toward greater health.
We must remember that we are all a combination of the three doshic energies. On the most fundamental level, pitta is our metabolism, kapha is our structure, and vata is the mobility that brings action and life into creation. Without all three energies, we simply could not exist.
Which Dosha Are You?
The doshas; vata, pitta and kapha are energy forces within the body that govern all physiological activity. Each dosha has different functions with the body.
o Vata governs all movement and sensory perception.
o Pitta governs digestion and metabolism.
o Kapha is responsible for the growth and lubrication of all the cells and tissues.
Our bodies contain all Three doshas. However, the amount or dominance of each dosha varies from person to person. This is what makes us all unique.
Every one of us has all three doshas; however, we are each comprised of differing proportions, making us all unique. Our constitution (prakruti) is the doshic blend we are born with, like a fingerprint. As we go through life, this doesn’t change; however, we may deviate from our core constitution due to many factors such as ageing, stress, climate, season, etc. This is known as our vikruti.
According to Ayurveda, Prakruti means the physical constitution of a person and vikruti means the state of disease. Prakruti is the science of nature which determines the innate character, physical constitution or disposition of a person. It helps in deciding the ideal lifestyle and therapeutic regimen for an individual. Depending on the predominance of a single dosha, or different permutations and combinations, Prakruti could be of seven types out of which the three main types are vata, pitta and kapha.
Understanding your Ayurvedic constitution gives your lives a sense of ease, safety, and belonging, because we know who we are and what our potential is. We also develop greater compassion and understanding for
others since we see that life is a garden of flowers with all the colors and scents imaginable, which together create the treasure that is life.
Understanding our constitution (prakruti) and being aware of imbalances (vikruti) allows us to move towards a state of balance and connection to what the body truly needs on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Through learning about the doshas we not only come to understanding ourselves better but also others.
The principles of Ayurvedic medicine aim to continually increase ojas or your core energy, and to do this you need to constantly balance your prakruti. Therefore, understanding your prakruti and the elements that compose it becomes the natural first step in living Ayurvedically. Even though you are born with a basic prakruti that is unique and will stay constant throughout your life, the day-to-day interplay of dosha tendencies are likely to vary based upon influences from food, lifestyle, environment and seasons. You must examine your food intake patterns to check whether you are ‘eating right’ to maintain balance, or whether force of habit, junk foods or meals-on-the-go are driving any of your doshas into excess. That is exactly what triggers ill health.
Optimal health is achieved through Ayurvedic Medicine when we are living in complete harmony with our environment. In order to live in harmony, we must first understand our own natures. Only then can we intelligently make choices which support us on our journey.

Ayurveda holds the view that illness begins at subtle levels and gradually becomes more apparent until it manifests as what we call disease. This understanding of health is closely related to the model of the five koshers as well. From this perspective, disease originates at the most subtle koshas and, if not detected, will gain momentum and eventually appear in the physical body.
Process of Self-Realization occurs once the Knower becomes aware of its Self at every level, in every kosha, the healing and restoration process begins.
Based on your dosha and their presenting imbalances, i would recommend their approach towards the practice of Yoga? Include time of day, season, age of the patient, and where appropriate, the koshas, the five elements, and/or the three gunas.
The life of these sages in harmony with nature and the universe would naturally include meditation practices, breathing practices, asana and physical exercises, dietary regimen including times of fasting, orientation to the times of day and the seasons, and the use of herbs, both as tonics and as purification. What is key here is that the Ayurvedic vision arose out of the practice of a kind of primordial yoga, not as a separate medical therapy for
the treatment of the body, but as a holistic vision of life and health.
