AYURVEDIC WISDOM TO ADDRESS HEALING ON EVERY LEVEL
In the modern world, there is so much disassociation from nature and lack of comprehension of these laws that we even try to deny the natural law and make claims that it is untrue, dogmatic or even religious. All the medicines in the world put together cannot sustain the health of man, if he breaks natural laws. The punishment for infringement of natural laws is sure. There is no way of escape.
Ayurveda is a holistic form of medicine fundamentally based upon the laws of nature to treat the body, mind, and spirit.
Being an Ayurvedic Practitioner, I see the world through the eyes of Ayurveda. Everyone is unique and needs something different according to their personal prakruti or natural doshic make-up. By understanding someone’s natural state and their current state of imbalance (vikruti) I am able to discern exactly what treatment protocol would be most appropriate. Other things to consider are the mental and emotional states, type of job, stress, family and anything else that is influencing one’s life situation.
Ayurveda assists you in journeying back to optimal health by balancing the five elements in the body and mind through the use of herbs, diet, colors, aromatherapy, lifestyle changes, yoga, and meditation. When we follow diet, food and lifestyle choices that support our unique dosha then we will be healthy and have less of a need to cleanse in any drastic way. However once there is a build up of ama or toxicity in the body that cannot be eliminated, a cleansing process is essential.
A diet high in saturated fats, refined sugar, meat, and commercially processed foods has overtaken the use of fresh fruits and vegetables. With the rich, heavy, sweet foods that satiate the majority of stomachs, there is very little nutrient value, leading to nutritional deficiencies and health problems. To overcome the nutritional aspects, a ruinous diet and chemical supplements have become the solution.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” - Hippocrates, the father of Greek medicine. How true these words are, yet society has forgotten to live by them.
In Ayurvedic philosophy.....Ayurveda gives consideration to cooking preparation, storage, times, seasons, prakrīti, vikruti, stage of life, environment, lifestyle, food habits e.g. sequence of eating and pleasant eating atmosphere, where food is grown, and energetics (rasa, virya, vipaka) of food are additional factors, that govern an individual’s diet. Ideally there are factors such as when to pick fruits and vegetables, how and where to best grow them, amongst other factors.
According to ayurveda, health is a state of balance between the body, mind, and consciousness as well as a state of inner balance between vata, pitta, and kapha.
There are seven types of prakriti that can have infinite combinations based on the percentage of each dosha’s presence. Any, vikruti factors will also be taken into account, this establishes an individualistic and thorough diet plan. Each person is seen as a unique entity that has his/her own body constitution, whether that may be in the varying levels of hormones, agni/metabolism, or even neurotransmitters. Ayurveda looks at each individual’s personal constitution as a mix of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha characteristics; your constitution affects your health, personality, and more.
According to ayurveda there are seven major causes of disease: hereditary, congenital, internal, external, seasonal, habitual, and supernatural factors. Disease can also result from misuse, overuse, and underuse of the senses (hearing, touch, sight, taste, and smell). The disease itself can be described by the number of doshas involved, the specific tissues affected, the quality or combination of qualities that aggravated the dosha, whether the disease is primary or secondary, the strength of the aggravation, and the length of time the disease has been manifest.
In Ayurveda, ahara/diet is not separated from lifestyle. Lifestyle that balances each individual constitution is important in maintaining balance of the subtle energies within. By subtle, it is meant to be the health that leads us to purity and sattva/equilibrium for a transformational consciousness. Only when there is balance in the mind, can the right choices be made, and when the physical body is at its optimal working level, the mind is also predisposed to attaining the best possible limits. Ayurveda looks at health as the whole body in terms of physical, mental and subtle aspects

MAINTAIN YOUR OJAS WITH AYURVEDA..
Looking at milk, we can think of ghee which is present in all milk but not always seen. With processing we can get ghee. Similarily with regular dinacharya, rtucharya and aharvyhar etc. you can achieve a fair amount of ojas in the body.
Indriya (sense organs) Saratva (the best form)– all the indriyas are performing to the fullest and you are in charge of them. Vak (speech), Pani (touch), Pad (movement), Payu (elimination), Upastha (procreate) all the abilities and the senses of perception function to their fullest and best courtesy of ojas.
Desire is the root cause for all miseries. Sacrifice of all desires is the factor to vanish all…
