BREATH PRACTICES TO INCREASE CONNECTION WITH YOUR UNBORN BABY (DURING PREGNANCY) TO SOOTHE ANXIETY AND EASE STRESS
Studies now show that babies during pregnancy can recognize sound vibrations and are specifically attuned to the frequency of their Mother’s voice. After birth, babies who hear their Mother’s voice will nurse at a faster rate than babies who don’t.
Also the practice of prenatal yoga provides mothers an opportunity to bond with their baby through the practice of intentional breathing, chanting, and singing.

One of our favorite breathing techniques for pregnancy is brahmaree pranayama, known as honey bee breath.
.
Brahmaree breath brings harmony into all the body’s energetic channels and activates the vagus nerve, which will deeply relax the mother’s body and baby’s as well. This practice is also a wonderful remedy for stress, which many women may experience through the changes of pregnancy. Brahmaree encourages expansion at the cellular level, releasing stress from deep within the tissues and guiding the body, mind, and spirit back to a state of equilibrium and bliss.

Every time the humming sound is made - baby will hear it, feel it, experience all the benefits too!

To practice this breath…
.
~Come into a comfortable position, either seated, laying down on the left side, or laying on the back with support under the knees
. ~Soften the jaw and if you’re comfortable, close the eyes .
~Guide the tongue to lightly press on the roof of the mouth .
~Inhale through the nose .
~Keep the lips closed and as you exhale, make a humming sound ‘mmmm’
.
To increase connection with baby, explore what it feels like to place your left hand on your heart and your right hand on the belly as you breathe. With every exhale, sense the body relax as you allow yourself to be completely held by the energy of Mother Earth below.

Practice for 10 - 15 minutes in the morning, evening before sleep, or as needed throughout your day.
