TRY OUR BASTI TREATMENTS

Basti therapy is primarily used for Vata disorder.
Basti is one of the five procedures of Panchakarma.
Vata dosha is responsible for all important functions of the body like heart beats, Inspiration and Expiration, Peristaltic movements, musculo skeletal movements, urination, defaecation, Menstrual discharge, semen ejaculation and even delivery process.
Basti is used to treat conditions of chronic constipation, sciatica, lower back pain, arthritis, infertility, Oligozoospermia, mental conditions and neurological disorders such as facial paralysis, sciatica, hemiplegia, paraplegia, poliomyelitis, menstrual disorders,PMS, endometriosis, infertility and osteoporosis, Dry Bronchial Asthama, Dry cough, Hiccough and other such conditions. Highly effective in addressing acute skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis as well as rheumatism, gout and arthritis.
Basti provides herbal cleansing and nourishment directly into the intestines and colon.
Basti can be helpful in preventive & curative aspect for all these conditions. Vata dosha gets vitiated due to faulty diet & life style and in this pathological state, it is responsible for many diseases. Basti karma helps to reset and maintain the balanced state of Vata dosha and thus helps in treatment of many diseases.
Basti also an excellent step to prepare the body for couple who are planning for pregnancy (for both men and women).
Excellent preventative treatment for the toxins that are accumulated in the digestive tract from migrating to other parts of the body.
Vata is a disorder dominated by pain affecting the joint. This systemic imbalanced vata can affect almost any system in the body, as vata is a necessary presence throughout the body. Vata Dosha is most powerful among three Doshas and it controls the other two Doshas as well as it is very difficult for treatment. When these two factors (Toxins and Vata) simulteniously take part in the pathogenesis, then the resultant disease becomes very difficult to treat.
Basti enhances digestion, body strength, voice, complexion, intelligence, prevents ageing and promotes longevity. There are two types of basti, each differing in their composition of ingredients.
1. Niruha Basti - Wherein Decoction mix is administrated. Prevents aging of the body, Promotes happiness, longevity, strength, agni, intellect, voice and complexion,It enriches semen and ovum, Cleans toxins from the channels of the body. Help in expelling out the morbid Doshas and increases the strength of the body.
2. Anuvasana basti - Wherein Oils and Fats are administrated for any dryness caused by vata can support a healthy, supple colon. The oil helps to ground vata and promotes energy and vitality. BENEFITS : Defect in semen, Pain in smaller joints, Diseases of lower abdomen, Deficiency in strength, Complexion & Muscle tissue, Pain in anal region, Scieatica, Stong immunity & digestive capacity and Diseases purely die to Vata Dosha.
EFFECT OF BASTI ON AGNI
Due to elimination of morbid factors, the glands of gastro- Intestinal tract are revitalised and perform their functional effectively. So, it increases the digestion and absorption of the digested food material, which increase immunity.
Other Benefits :
* It purifies all the systems and makes a clear passage up to the micro channel level.
* Increase the quantity and quality of sperm.
* Effective to restore the normal function of the blood and other Dhatu.
* Improves intellectual power
* Provide clarity of mind

* It evacuates impurity quickly and easily.
Sushruta has scientifically described the effects of basti treatment. where he has given his importance to the qualities of the herbs administered.
The active qualities of the herbs used in the basti spread from the colon and move all throughout the body. Sushruta relates this to water being poured at roots of a tree and eventually reaching up to the leaves.
Just as a tree irrigated with water at the root produces blue leaves, become beautiful with tender leaves, and during the course of time grows to produce flowers and fruits, similarly a person becomes young and beautiful by the administration of Anuvasana.
Charaka Si 1:29
There is no treatment equivalent to Basti in the protection of Marma and in the management of their affliction, which are considered as vital parts in the body (Ch. Si. 9/7).
It provides immediate strength, hence it is supreme line of treatment particularly in children and aged person (Ch. Si. 11/36).
It can be used in almost all the disease by using specific drugs indicated in that disease condition (Ch.Si.10/4; Su.Chi. 38/111).
Basti is said as half of the treatment of Ayurveda (Charak Samhita Siddhi Sthana 1/39). Basti is so highly revered in the Panchakarma process that it is said that the benefit received from basti is equal to the cumulative benefit of the other four processes in Panchakarma.
Ayurveda define 80 Vata, 40 Pitta and 20 Kapha Disorder. According to Acharya Charka & Vata is the prime factor of the body building and also the diseases.
We can conclude from the above discussion that here Basti denotes Karma in which the drugs are administered through the ANAL CANAL and it stays for the certain period of time and then they draw the waste substances from all over the body into the colon and eliminates them out of the body by producing movements in the colon resulting into the pleasant effect.
Basti is not merely the enema one, rather it is a highly complex, sophisticated and systemic therapy having wider range of therapeutic actions and indication. It has been considered as prime treatment modality for Vata Dosha. Innumerable Basti can be formulated using various drugs in different proportions for various diseases and for different patients. Specific rules and regulations are indicated for the administration of Basti which must be followed to obtain the desirable result.
Basti can be administered at any age and stage of disorder after proper examination. It can also be given in the healthy person too. Applicable in all the season.

WOMEN'S INFERTILITY TREATMENT WITH AYURVEDA

Women's well-being appears to be more seriously affected by infertility than men's -psychological, social and physical suffering - anxiety, depression, lowered life satisfaction, frustration, grief, fear, guilt, helplessness, reduced job performance, marital duress, economic hardship, loss of social status, social stigma, social isolation, physical violence, weight, diet, smoking, medical conditions, other substance abuse, environmental pollutants, medications and family medical history, infections might have an effect on conception in couples. When she is not able to produce eggs regularly or because her fallopian tubes are damaged or blocked and the sperm cannot reach her eggs.
Doha Plays Important Role In Women's Infertility:
The most easily disturbed Dosha is the Vata which causes functional defects in the egg, difficulties with implantation and is often responsible for infertility. An excessive exercise, fear, anxiety or stress due to trauma, excessive fasting as is the case in eating disorders or diet including cold, light and dry substances can cause imbalance of Vata. However, infertility rarely involves only one Dosha. Women with Pitta nature may experience infertility resulting in scarring of the fallopian tube, inhibiting the ascent of the sperm or descent of the ovum. Excess heat may also be responsible for depletion of Sperm. On the other hand, Women with Kapha because of the dominant water element in their constitution that supports Sperm experience the healthiest and the strongest reproductive system. Infertility in those with Kapha is initiated by a cold, heavy and oily diet along with a sedentary lifestyle. When Kapha Dosha is predominant, fallopian tubes may thicken; uterine fibroids may develop, and often involves Pitta and Vata displacement. Scar tissue is due to Pitta pushing Kapha.
Vitiation of Vata can be considered as the most important factor for tubal infertility. It is very important to note that all type of tubal blockages can not be the same. In some cases, there can be Vata dominance creating stenosis type of pathology, while in some other cases, block can be more structural (obstruction in lumen) manifesting the dominance of Kapha. In cases of tubal blockage with history of very active infection, Pitta can be considered a dominant factor. Hence, tubal infertility is not the manifestation of vitiation of any specific Dosha, rather sometimes an interplay of multiple Doshas and sometimes the sequel of vitiation of single Dosha.
According to Ayurveda Ama (toxin created when undigested food forms in the stomach) is responsible for all the disease occurs due to imbalance in Agni (the power of digestion) which becomes main cause in infertility. Therefore, the treatment of Ama must always include the treatment of infertility in women. Panchakarma (Ayurvedic deep internal cleansing procedure), can also be utilized to eliminate Ama. Healthy Agni will also contribute to healthy Ojas.
Ayurvedic preconception care takes advantage of our body’s natural ability to cleanse and renew.
Evaluation of Women's Dosha is very significant for prescribing the treatment and any blockages and weaknesses in body parts.
Ayurveda Body therapies To treat Infertility In Women:
Ayurvedic body therapies such as Shirodhara, Abhyanga, Marma therapy, Nasya, Basti help in releasing tension, impurities and trapped energy within the body. They nourish the body, revitalize the mind and strengthen the immune system. Rejuvenation therapies are beneficial in reducing stress, nourishing all dhatus of the body and pacifying Vata. Stress can literally shut down the pituitary, the hormonal center of the brain that sends the first messengers to the ovaries so that ovulation occurs. Constant stimulation from cortisol, the stress hormone, puts the nervous system in a state of alert and panic, which has a very drying effect as well.
I usually prescribed Panchakarma treatment for infertile couples. Rejuvenative therapies are basically recommended for Vata Dosha, and cooling light therapies for pitta Dosha, which helps to remove local disorders as well as obstructions in passage and to facilitate proper coitus, and to increase receptivity of the genital tract to the entry of the sperm, Basti is recommended. Ayurvedic deep tissue work can not only decrease mechanical blockages, but also reduce pelvic pain and improve sexual arousal and orgasm for women.
Panchakarma For Infertility clease:
Anger, grief, toxins, emotional heaviness, and more all have a profound impact on your pregnancy. In fertility cleansing, there is a specific effort to remove toxins and excess doshas from the field, the nutrients and fluid, and the seed, which are deeper tissue layers and therefore require deeper cleansing. The cleanse serves to clear toxins (ama) and excess doshas so that channels flow freely and toxins do not inhibit the proper functioning of any tissue. Ayurveda recommends regular cleansing of our internal system to achieve the optimum functioning of our tissue nourishment.
The body is a system of channels like highways. If you’re driving on a highway and there’s a traffic accident, you’re stuck. Similarly, when you have health issues like infertility, you have to open the body’s channels to allow the body to work properly.
Keeping your digestive fire (agni) strong is very important. Take our Vata Digest, Pitta Digest, or Kapha Digest herbal tablets, depending on the strongest dosha that is out of balance in your vikriti.
Continue to replenish ojas through diet and lifestyle, while making sure your digestive fire remains strong.
Ayurveda offers a complete approach to fertility that embraces both the male and the female roles as equally important.
As you enhance the health of each of these factors, your fertility will begin to blossom. The following sections will walk you through a six-month preconception process and show you how each step enriches one or more of the four elements that we just addressed. The first phase is a three-month cleanse period, followed by a three-month rejuvenation period.
Ayurveda pays attention to each individual body types, enhances the body systems participating in the process of fertilization and therefore serves as an excellent alternative for reaching fertilization.
Ayurveda supports health by strengthening body's own self-healing and balancing mechanisms.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE OF YOUR BODY : REMOVE AMA (TOXINS)

Ayurvedic Medicines & Treatments have been used to treat asthma, osteoarthritis, diabetes, and depression as well as a variety of other illnesses across the life span. The major aims of Ayurveda are to rid the body of toxins that can cause disease and reestablish harmony with the universe without the high cost and side effects.
Ama, which is the by-product of partially digested food that can clog the physical channels in the body.
When Ama is not cleared completely from the body through the digestive tract. With increased stress over time, Ama is eventually converted to Ama Visha (become difficult to treat) , which is a more acidic and reactive form of Ama. So Ama is considered as a root cause of all disorders in Ayurveda. It is clear that Agni (Agni is the energy responsible for transformation of food substances, which is converted to Dhatus, and Upadhatu are produced.) (jatharagni) plays an Important role in the production of Ama. Ama is also being produced whenever there is Malfunction of Agni in the body. Impairment of Agni at cellular level causes the generation of free radicals i.e. Ama. The primary source of Ama is the digestive system. Ama produced in liver also or at other tissue or cellular level, depending on the etiological factors.....
Ama Visha:
If the ama sits too long in the physiology, it ferments and creates acidic environment for free radials to thrive. These are endogenous toxins (made within the body), and depending on where they are seated, they can cause different inflammatory reactions and diseases. Ama Visha can result in an autoimmune response and produce diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome or colon cancer.
Ama is formed with overeating, drinking cold beverages, eating food that is difficult to digest (such as meat and hard cheeses), eating when digestion is sluggish (at night), eating while stressed, eating raw foods, eating when not hungry, eating in a standing position, and eating leftovers.
Sometimes due to external negative influences (emotional stress, strains, adverse weather, in appropriate food and habits) and improper secretions of digestive juices by liver and pancreas, not all the food digested. In that half of it absorbed as a nutrients and rest of it, as a waste products. But there still remains a half undigested, unmeabolised food product that circulates in the body as toxins.
Ama as Free Radicals
Free radicals are pathologically correlated with ama. In this regard it is said that property and manifestation of free radicals are similar to those of ama. Free radicals are unstable chemicals formed in the body during normal metabolism or exposure to environmental toxins such as air, food and water pollution. Free radicals help our body to generate energy and fight infection, but when we have too many free radicals they attack healthy cells causing them to age prematurely.
While you eating food in standing position was that blood, necessary for digestion, pools in the legs. While in seated position, more blood would be available to the digestive system and thus aid in more complete digestion of foods.
Cooking food softens cellulose fibers and releases nutrients, which facilitates more complete nutrient absorption into body cells. While eating leftovers because once food is cooked, the nutrients are now exposed to the environment and can quickly get oxidize. Oxidation then causes an increased risk of toxin formation in the body. Prana in the food could also be damaged if food were frozen - cells absorbing nutrients with corrupted Prana begin to exhibit abnormal functioning and contribute to the onset of diseases such as depression.
It is from this universal intelligence that the cells of the body are able to choose correct substances for nourishment. For example, the cells of the bones (osteoblasts) will choose calcium, magnesium, and zinc to build and maintain bone function. According to the principles of Ayurvedic medicine, with stresses coming both internally and externally to the body, cells can lose their universal intelligence and give rise to disease. Prana has THREE components: Soma, Agni, and Marut. Once the flow of Prana is blocked, cells lose their universal intelligence or their capacity to perform their various functions and diseases can occur.
The internal functioning of the body is governed by the Doshas—Kapha, Pitta, and Vata—whereas the universe outside the body is governed by Soma, Agni, and Marut.
Prana can enter the body through inspiration of air through the nasal passages and through consumption of foods and fluids.
Ojas is considered to be the finest end product of a healthy lifestyle and good nutrition. According to the Ayurveda Ojas gives an individual a healthy glow, strength, immunity to disease, and happiness. Ojas increases with the consumption of pure food such as fresh organic vegetables, grains, milk, clarified butter (ghee), olive oil, pure air and water, loving relationships, laughing, and going to bed before 10:00 PM. In order to stay healthy and produce Ojas, all individuals need the 3 pillars of health, which are proper foods, adequate sleep (at least 8 hours per night), and a regular daily routine.
According to Ayurveda, when toxins enter the body, they can burn the Ojas layer, cause the cells to lose their intelligence, and increase susceptibility to diseases.
Ama originates from improperly digested toxic particles that clog the srotas in body. Some of these soratas are physical and include the Gastrointestinal Tract, lymphatic system, Arteries and Veins, Capillaries and Genitourinary tract also Respiratory and Cardiovascular system. Others or nonphysical srotas called Vatanadimandalas through which your energy flows. Ama the toxic substance accumulates wherever there is a weakness in the body and this will result in disease.
Sometimes Toxins caused by outside the body in the form of medications, vitamins, artificial chemicals, flavorings, and additives in food, electromagnetic radiation emanating from cell phones, microwaves, computers, X-rays, and other electronic devices.

LOSING HAIR AFTER PREGNANCY? YOUR VATA DOSHA COULD BE IMBALANCED

Postpartum Hair loss : Hair fall after Pregnancy
it was too much, the reason was not just the hormones trying to settle but the over stressed out life made it more cumbersome. Handling the work, baby and house all together single handedly took a lot of toll to your health. I really feel lot of hair thinning has already done disaster to your personality. I’m sure many mother’s would have similar problems of hair loss and thinning after baby birth.
Why do new mothers lose hair after Baby birth?
For a first time mom, getting lustrous and thick hair during pregnancy is all the more to boast upon. The simple reason can be pointed out to increased levels of“Estrogen/Oestrogen Hormone”. This hormone is responsible for less of hair fall and more growth. This results in thickening and getting beautiful hair while you carry your baby. Further, since we take lot of Iron, folic acid, healthy foods during pregnancy, this all sums up to lustrous hair in return.
What happens after Baby Birth?
That is where the toll takes. Yes, the Estrogen levels after baby birth change and come back to normal levels drastically. This is where many hair follicles enter the resting stage. Even the eating habits go for a toss slowly. And soon the hair strands come out in bulk. Instead of a normal 100 hair strand fall/day, after baby birth a mama can have more than 500 strands fall/day. Yes, I know that’s a quantum, but in some mama’s , it really takes a toll and they give us more of the on going stress.
There is hardly much to do in this phase, but what all we can do is to maintain the best of all nutrition for our hair so that the growth spree fastens up soon.
Stress – Stress can upset hormonal balance and increase the rate of hair loss. Be sure to take enough rest, have a balanced diet and don’t be afraid to ask for help after delivery.
Reduce stress
Postnatal stress is normal because the baby is born when you have a lot to worry about. But stress is the enemy of health and beauty. In fact, stress makes the problem of postpartum hair loss more severe because it breaks the normal development cycle of the hair. So, control stress by meditating, deep breathing, listening to light music, exercising and learning how to relax. And do not forget to get enough sleep to restore your hair health.
Vitamin deficiencies – It is important to include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet, and in particular, have enough vitamin B, C and E, zinc and biotin which would help reduce hair loss.
Massage scalp with oil
Whether you have just given birth to a baby or not, scalp massage offers countless benefits to your health and hair. Scalp massage helps relieve headaches by increasing blood circulation and nourishing hair growth. The method is very simple. It is to use coconut oil, warming and applying to the hair. Use fingers and massage gently scalp for 5-10 minutes, leave it overnight or wash after 30 minutes. Please do 2-3 times per week for best results.
Coconut oil is one of the best natural remedies for hair growth. Lauric acid, present in coconut oil, is responsible for preventing hair loss, paving the way for longer, stronger hair. Plus, it has antioxidant and antibacterial properties that help in eliminating the free radicals and infections, keeping your hair strong and healthy. Warm a little coconut oil and massage it on your scalp before bedtime. Rinse off the extra oil using a mild shampoo the next morning, if necessary.
One other hand, you may consider using oil rich in vitamin E to massage your hair and scalp. This will greatly slow down or prevent hair fall or loss, as the vitamin E rich will strengthen your fragile hair, as well as prevent you from having a flaky and dry skin/scalp.
Diet and Hair Loss:
For proper growth of hair, there is a need of healthy and balanced diet where the proportion of Carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamin and minerals should be equally balanced. Hair is primarily made up of protein, so more thrust should be towards proteinus products. Here, some of the important diets are given for for hair care and treating hair loss. To reduce hair loss, weightage should be given on diet therapy, diet chart and food pyramid
.
1. Stick to protein rich diet-fish, yeast, soybean, low fat cheese, eggs, beans and yoghurt for proper growth of hair. These diets to prevent hair fall.
2. Increase the intake of iron as it is essential for hemoglobin and blood formation. So increase the quantity of green vegetables, raisins, dates, etc.
3. Zinc is related with hair fall. Take zinc rich foods like Seafood’s.
Restrict burger, fries, cold, spicy, sugary foods, caffeine, fat, carbonated drinks, animal protein, excessive raw food, etc. as these are the culprits for hair thinning.
Top foods that promote hair growth: beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, tofu, whole grain cereals, dark green leafy vegetables, dates, raisins, walnuts, soy, avocados, nuts, seeds, olive, legumes, onions, raw oats, dried fruits, cherry juice, beets, brown rice, root vegetables, Black beans, pumpkin, black pepper, brown rice syrup etc.
Take calcium to your diet to make hair stronger
Vitamin E too stimulates hair growth.
Avoid harsh shampoo, conditioners
Don’t rub your hair strongly.
Eat a balanced diet.
Do meditation and exercise regularly.
Yoga for Hair Loss and Control
The practice of Yoga not only makes you fit and fine, it also gives your body a beautiful look by protecting your hair and making it internally stronger. Yoga is beneficial for hair growth as it increases blood circulation to head and scalp region.
Shirsasana( the headstand pose) enhances blood circulation to the scalp and promote hair growth
Vajrasana is useful for the treatment of hair loss.
Do not wash it too much and shampoo 2-3 times a week gently.
Do not use hot water for shampooing, instead use warm water or cool water.
Do not brush, when hair is wet. Let your hair dry naturally.
Avoid excessive use of dryers.
Brush your hair gently and do not brush too many times a day.
Do not do many hairstyles in a short time.
Drinking water – The best way to keep your hair healthy!!
Water is a necessity for the human body. For the human body to function properly and effectively, it must be well hydrated. The enzyme and hormones in the body can only work when the body has sufficient amount of water. For your body to function properly and also realize proper growth of hair, take at least 8 glasses of water daily. Also, ensure that your diet is healthy and you take all the vital nutrients regularly. This is one of the most important notes to follow on the list of Ayurvedic treatments for hair loss control.
Good Sleep – Another way to have healthy hair!!
Apart from water, balanced diet and exercise, sleep is also a very essential component of good health. Your body requires enough sleep for it to rest. Just like machines, even the body requires a good rest following a tedious routine. It’s during sleep that majority of the body tissues regenerate and rejuvenate. Hence, it’s recommended to have at least 8 hours of sleep daily. This is important for staying healthy and fit. Hair growth is also promoted if you get enough sleep. Getting enough restful sleep is another very important suggestion on the list of ayurvedic medicine for hair loss control.
Ayurvedic Treatment for hair loss after Delivery :
Ayurvedic treatment plays a vital role in the treatment for hair fall post pregnancy. An Ayurvedic research on hair growth is very extensive and also well structured. The treatment regimen includes diet and herbal oil massages.
Balance Your Vata Dosha After Pregnancy :
The key to postpartum care of the mother is to calm vata (the ether and air elements). The mother is full of the mobile, light, dry, and cold qualities after the loss of energy and blood and fluids. Ayurveda says that, after delivery mothers agni, will be low and vata dosha is vitiated immediately after delivery. Elevated Vata Dosha can lead to dehydrated scalp, hair fall, thinning of hair, dry scalp, dandruff, cracked scalp surface and more.
I can help you treat hair fall caused by the elevated dosas with herbs & herbal medicines, ayurvedic therapies which help in specifically pacifying the elevated doshas. Which not only pacify the elevated doshas, but also nourish hair and scalp, saving your follicles from further damage and arresting the hair fall caused by elevated doshas, altogether.
Supporting and Restoring Balance to the Mother 42 Days after Birth :
How do we rebalance our sacred womb after birth? Ayurvedic system recommends the mother receive care for 42 days after the baby is born. This means the mother is given the support to rest, sleep, eat, and get nourishment after the baby is born. This window in time is deeply critical for the mother and the child to acclimate to each other, heal, and bond as a family. In our western culture, we are asked to move quickly into the mother role and jump back to our responsibilities in and outside of the home. In addition, it takes a woman’s body a minimum of 1-2 years to fully recover from the birth experience.
A special Ayurvedic regimen for the mother after delivery is recommended for this period to make good the loss of the fluids, dhatus and blood during the pregnancy and delivery. The proper adherence to this regimen results in faster recuperation and restoration of the health of the mother.
During pregnancy the fetus attains its nourishment from the mother’s body. This makes the seven dhatus of the mother weakened and diminished from the usual state. After delivery the mother’s health becomes weak due to the loss of fluid and blood and the emptiness created in the body after the the expulsion of foetus from the uterus. This phase is called ‘suthika period. Ayurveda places a great emphasis on the value of caring for the mother prior to, during and following pregnancy.

According to the Ayurveda, Vata tends to go out of balance in the perinatal period. If a woman consumes food that is low in Soma (lunar energy), goes to bed after 10 PM, and is exposed to high levels of electromagnetic radiation from electronic devices, the cooling, nurturing, and alkalizing energy of Ojas (neurotransmitters) becomes critically low; the coordination between the mind and the emotional heart weakens; and emotional strength diminishes. Therefore, women were told to eat warm, cooked, and unctuous foods; rest as much as possible; adhere to a routine of early bedtime and eating meals on time; have daily oil massages; and drink warmed milk before sleeping. When body toxin levels are high, Agni or digestive/metabolic energy is low, and Soma energy in food is no longer being transformed to Ojas. At this point when Ojas is no longer reaching the brain, treatments such as herbal medicines, herbs are recommended to increase the levels of Ojas and to decrease toxins in the body.
Ayurveda is that all living and nonliving things share the basic elements of ether, air, water, fire, and earth and that health of human beings and the universe depends on the balance and harmony of these elements.

AYURVEDIC MENSTRUAL CYCLE

HOW YOUR AYURVEDIC DOSHA AFFECTS YOUR PERIOD.
Your menstrual cycle provides a unique insight of your bodies, and depending on your dosha you will experience it differently.
Each of the doshas plays its part in your menstrual cycle, at different times. Menstrual symptoms that may manifest in your body (from cramping and mood swings to increased appetite and sweating), will all directly relate to the balance (or imbalance) of the doshas in your body. The severity of symptoms is also greatly affected by the amount of toxins that are held in the tissues, so one of the most important ways to restore sattva to your monthly cycle, is to gently lighten your body’s toxic load.
Vata Menstrual Flow
Vata to the stage of bleeding and cramps. Light, short flow, frothy, thin, dark-colored blood; prickly, sharp feelings in the abdomen
When you menstruate, as this time you are in the vata part of the menstrual cycle. This is because vata is the energy that governs movement and flow, and Ayurveda encourages us to support the downward flow of this energy, so that we support our-selves in the clearing of our menstrual blood from our bodies. In the female reproductive tissue, vata acts through blood vessels, helping flow go down and out. Apana vayu, which governs downward flow, particularly in the pelvis, is the vehicle for continuous and easy outlet of wastes, such as feces and urine, in addition to menstruation.
As you think about the qualities of vata (light, mobile, cold, dry, rough, subtle, clear), the types of vata menstrual qualities become obvious. Also think about the home of vata—the pelvis and thighs—because the imbalances will often arise in those areas. Vata types are the most likely to experience scant, absent and painful periods. This is due to the effect of vata on the blood vessels.
Where ever there is a blockage for the free flow of Vata, there will be pain. So most of the Vata dosha dominating cycles will be painful.
If you have Vata dominant in your cycle, you may experience:
Pain that is sharp, spasmodic in the lower abdomen or back
Drying or lightening flow
Darkness in color
Stiffness in the body
Emotions of anxiety, nervousness, or fear
Some constipation - right before the cycle
irregular period is associated with a Vata imbalance
Pitta Menstrual Flow
Pitta the time after ovulation and the series of hormonal changes leading to the bleeding phase. Red, hot blood; strong odor; steady flow at the beginning and light at the end
Pitta is characteristically hot and sharp. With the heat so too comes irritation in the body, which can provoke swelling. Such is the case with tender, swollen breasts that many women will experience during the premenstrual period. We can feel warmer, more prone to sweating, and increasingly hot-tempered at this time. Pitta cycles are often heavy, and they can begin quickly, with heavy bleeding coming on all of a sudden. With the rush of flow and increased heat in the tissues, pittas are also more likely to have loose bowel movements and diarrhoea during their periods; many too, may feel nauseous. If the blood contains toxins, the flow can be painful and unpleasant, too.
Kapha Menstrual Flow :
Dark, clotted blood; heavy flow; slow to start, then lasts longer than 5 days; feeling of lethargy; dull cramping; bloating
With the elements of earth and water, kapha is the heaviest and most lethargic of the doshas. This slow flow and stagnating quality, can make it difficult for things to move through the body in a healthy way, and kaphas are most likely to retain fluid, bloat, swell and suffer distention of the bowel and abdomen. Periods can last longer for kaphas – and blood is often thicker, stickier and heavier.
After menstruation, kapha is dominant. This part of the cycle, called rutukala, lasts from the end of the bleeding phase to the point at which we prepare to ovulate. Kapha to the nourishing stage until the uterine lining is nourished and whole body is ready to receive the fertilised ovum.
If the ovum is not fertilised, the cycle begins anew – with day one of menstruation, when the body once again clears and opens, and we move, once more, into the vata phase of our cycle.
Kapha brings heaviness, thickness, oiliness, dullness and slowness into rasa dhatu, which goes directly to the female system.
Ayurvedic menstrual cycle :
• Day 1 – 5 (from the first day of bleeding) - the vata phase
• Day 4 – 14 (from the end of bleeding until ovulation) - the kapha phase
• Day 14 – 18 (from ovulation until your period starts) – the pitta phase.
Ayurveda uniquely exams the menstrual cycle as a window into the human body. By being familiar and in tune with your menstrual cycle, you can understand very clearly, on a month-to-month basis, which dosha imbalances your body is struggling with.
As such, they are most quick to change in quality and consistency. By paying attention to your flow, its qualities, and your experiences before and after its release, you can get a strong sense of how the doshas are at play even before they fully come to fruition on a gross level in other layers of the body. This gives an opportunity for intervention so that the physiology of the body may come back to a stronger balance, and therefore, stronger health.
As long as the doshas function optimally and aren’t depleted or overshadowed by another dosha, the menstrual cycle functions optimally.
Seasonal cleansing is a highly effective way to balance and rejuvenate all bodily tissues so that they function optimally.
A daily routine keeps the body in rhythm and moving on schedule.

As menstruation is governed by Doshas, their imbalance causes abnormality. Therefore it is necessary to have balance state of Doshas.
IF THE DOSHAS OF YOUR BODY ARE ALL IN BALANCE, YOUR PERIOD SHOULD NEVER FEEL UNPLEASANT, PAINFUL OR NEGATIVELY IMPACT YOUR LIFE..
According to Ayurveda, each individual has a particular tconstitution (Prakriti), which is formed during the union of sperm and ovum itself. The Prakriti of an individual depends upon the working of these Doshas and Ayurveda classifies people into different Prakriti categories based on the Dosha, which is predominant in a person :Vata - Pitta - Kapha
The female body is truly unique and beautiful. Use it towards great health as a roadmap, paying attention to all of the signs and subtlest shifts.
In Ayurveda, the life span of a woman is divided into three phases, each dominated by a different dosha. The period from birth to the first menstrual period is dominated by kapha. The middle part of life, or the fertile years, is ruled by pitta. The final phase of life is determined by vata, or the air energy.
Understanding your dosha will help you to understand how your body works and, therefore, how you can help it.
But, how does this relate back to the menstrual cycle? In Ayurveda, the menstrual cycle has its very own Vata, Kapha and Pitta stage. How can this help?
What you have done from the end of the last period to the beginning of the next period—what we eat, stress levels, movement, travel—will impact what your next menstruation is going to be like.
From the above, it is clear that an imbalance in the Doshas will lead to an imbalance in the menstruation process, which would in turn affect the health of a woman, including her capacity to conceive.
Ayurveda has prescribed a mode of life for menstruating women –a series of Do’s and Don’ts– called as ‘Rajaswala Paricharya’, which aims to protect the health of the menstruating woman and prevent any health defects in the child, in case any conception happens.

Toxin Makes it All Worse
Ama is toxicity, often related to fermentation and gas in the digestive tract. When ama is present, cramping may be increased. Ama can also disrupt hormones and increase prostaglandins. Apana vayu, as mentioned, governs the release of feces, urine, flatus, fetus and menstrual blood. When working properly, apana vayu ensures the smooth wavelike contractions of smooth muscle tissue. The synchronous contraction of uterus and bowels causes smooth elimination of menses and bowels. When ama is present, this synchrony may be lost. When not working properly, muscles become colicky, contracting irregularly. This causes tension and cramping.

KNOW YOUR CHILD'S DOSHA : WHY IT MATTERS

Using the power of Ayurvedic science to soothe your child.
Have you ever wondered about the difference in children from their interest in sports to their hair color or that some are thinner or put on weight easily? No two children are the same.
Children have their own doshas and their own daily imbalances, and it can be tricky to figure out what to do to help create harmony for them.
We all know that every child is unique, but some of few challenges can be very frustrating. And if it seems like you've tried all of the advice you can get but nothing is working, the one thing you might be missing is Ayurveda.
Your Baby's Dosha : Why It's Important To Know Your Baby's Dosha?
By determining your baby’s dosha type, you will know how to soothe, heal and feed your unique baby. It will also help you better understand your child’s likes and dislikes, why your baby reacts differently to certain foods, and most importantly, ways to maintain their health and happiness.
Which dosha is my child ? It’s a question worth asking because the answer can help you with everything from understanding their personality to keeping them healthy.
Everyone contains all three dosha, Vata, Pitta and Kapha, but one or two will be stronger.
In Ayurveda, an out-of-balance dosha contributes to certain symptoms… physically, mentally, and emotionally. Learning about your child’s Ayurvedic body type will give you actionable information on how to reawaken the body’s inner guidance system. According to Ayurveda, one’s constitution (prakriti) is established at conception, cemented at birth, and it remains constant over the course of a lifetime.
Vata Baby
Does your child tend to jump from one thing to another? Is he distracted easily yet very creative? If you said yes, your child is most likely a Vata. This dosha has a flexible personality and is easier to balance than other dosha types.
The mind of a Vata child becomes restless, irritable and hyperactive as Vata is air and movement and when out of balance creates a restless child who has a hard time focusing for a long period of time and forgets quickly. Vata also lends itself to quickness in the mind and body, as well as high levels of creativity & difficulty sleeping deeply.
Vata children have light flexible bodies, so they tend to be slim or underweight. As they have variable appetites and thirst as well as variable digestive strength. Because of the dry, light, and mobile qualities of the dosha, adding the opposite to their diet and lifestyle works best. Implementing Vata diet and lifestyle works best for them.
When Vata dosha is aggravated children tend to interrupted or restless sleep, or insomnia. They are blessed with quick minds, mental flexibility, and creativity, alert and quick to act, easily excited, clear-minded. When in balance they are joyful and happy. They tend to do best in the spring and summer seasons.
In order to know your child’s dosha you need to know Prakruti of the child which is determined in the moment of conception. The other aspect is the Vikriti which is the present dosha according to age and any dis-balance. It is also ever changing. The state of your parents' doshas at the time you were conceived is primarily responsible for your constitution or your prakruti. The prakruti is a blueprint of our physical, emotional and mental tendencies.
All physical functions of the body are governed by the three characteristics: vata, pitta and kapha. Every human body is governed by these three biological forces, but in unique proportions.
We will discuss Pitta & Kapha in my next post
I can determine your child’s dosha and follow simple rules for your child’s health and well-being.

WOMB A CLASSROOM FOR YOUR UNBORN BABY

Not only are babies busy developing physical adaptations to function after birth, they are also eagerly sensing the world around them, starting from a very early gestational age....amazing sensory development that occurs long before a baby exits its mother’s womb.
Touch - Sight - Sound - Taste/Smell
Remember, you are your baby’s first and most important teacher. Everything the mother eats and the emotions she experiences influence the unborn baby and long before it is born into this world. You are opening to life. A human life comes through you and into this world. Your baby wants to share with you in a most loving way and You must be awakened within to listen and tune into it.
When you're pregnant, it's natural to wonder if your baby's learning anything. Discover more about your baby's development and what may learn in the womb.
Did you know that during the entire pregnancy the baby shares the mom's outside world?
Our health, emotional responses, intelligence and even our artistic talents are laid down in the nine months between conception and birth.
Your baby is in sync with your physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual experiences throughout your pregnancy. Thus naturally your womb becomes your babies first class room. The emotional, chemical molecules that you experience on a daily basis pass through the placenta to your unborn baby, allowing him/her to better prepare for life outside the womb.
If you're aiming to create a peaceful, non-violent & inviting world for your baby you want to make sure to exposure yourself primarily to soothing and uplifting thoughts, images, news, sounds and nourishing foods. It's important to start connecting and nurturing your baby as soon as you find out you are pregnant. Pregnancy becomes a wonderful time for self-spiritual awakening and for developing a deep and long lasting connection between you and your growing baby.
Spend some time each day talking to your baby, telling about the things you will do together, and how you are feeling that day. You may find that your baby responds to the sound of your voice, and begins kicking and nudging you as you talk. If you feel uncomfortable talking to your bump, trying singing instead.
Your baby will begin communicating with you on his/her food likes and dislikes by the way that you are feeling. It's important to not make a radical diet change, but to eat nutritious and healthy foods. Eating a variety of fruits, vegetables and legumes helps to keep your vitamin and mineral levels stable and starts creating healthy eating habits for your growing little one.
The amniotic fluid is often flavoured by what the mother eats. By swallowing it, the baby becomes familiar with their tastes and aromas. After birth it can not only recognise them but it also prefers them over others.
A baby whose mother consumed a lot of garlic during the pregnancy is able to recognise the mother's milk among other samples with ease. In other words, babies know in advance what their mother's milk could taste like.
By getting used to the tastes and flavours typical of the local mother's food, babies are actually preparing for the cultural environment they will be born in, since food is among the most definite manifestations of cultural specifics.
Even babies start to learn their mother tongue even as they are still in the womb.
Further survey confirmed that if mothers suffer from depression during pregnancy, their children also show signs of depression to the same degree.
Tips for future mothers
* Listen to your body, take care of it, pamper it with massages and do things in moderation.
* Be certain to have plenty of positive emotions. Take a positive view of life.
* Communicate with the baby in your womb, talk and sing to it so that it can learn to recognize your voice. Allow the daddy to take part in this communication as well. Create a world for all three of you starting now.
* Radiate love towards your baby, tell it you love it. It will understand and learn how to love.
* Look at beautiful things, listen to nice music and seek aesthetics and harmony in everything around you. The beauty you take in will enrich the soul of your child as well.
* Dream of what qualities you would like your baby to have.
With your thoughts you can model its character as well.
Be careful what you eat! Researchers believe that the diet of the pregnant woman can directly influence the baby's future abilities. Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids are associated with greater verbal intelligence and better social skills among children of school age. Meanwhile, foods which contain poisons, contaminants and heavy metals are deemed responsible not only for congenital malformations, but also for lower intelligence.
What Does It Mean To Raise A Spiritual Child?
Communication with your baby before birth is an amazing and profoundly powerful experience that will bring a refreshing level of spiritual wisdom into your life.
My spirit baby knowledge take me into the unknown on a daily basis and I openly share what the spirit babies continue to teach me along with my own soul's path towards wisdom. I thank all the women, men, mothers, fathers, teachers, and healers for bringing the spirit baby love forward into conversations during consultation and sharing the knowledge. In that knowledge of us all working together to SHARE in big ways, I celebrate the divine callings and inspired thoughts of each; After all, we all were spirit baby's at one time or another. We ALL have a personal connection.
Each day during your pregnancy, set aside a specific time where you are fully alone with your baby. Have you ever noticed how active your baby is the moment when you sit down or lie down?
Relaxation And Reading To Womb :
Relaxation not only feels wonderful to you, but is very good for your baby. As we all know, stress can have a strong impact on our physiological and psychological well-being, and recent research suggests that these effects can be passed on to the unborn baby.
So take it easy, mother-to-be! Just by sitting or lying back comfortably and breathing, you’re accomplishing something important: nurturing and caring for your baby. As you take each deep breath in, you’re also breathing for your baby. She’s taking in that life-giving oxygen and it’s nourishing her and helping her grow. Each beat of your heart brings invigorating blood to your baby, making her stronger every moment.
When you add your voice to the mix, especially by reading your baby a calming, rhythmic story, you have the formula for perfect relaxation for both mother and child. As you read aloud you’ll find yourself feeling more calm as your heartbeat and breathing slow down. This relaxation will immediately pass to your baby; you’ll both feel connected, soothed, and peaceful. Just like that, you’re forming a deep, loving bond.
Your baby knows the rhythms of your body, your waking and sleeping cycles, when and what you eat, when you’re active or still, and most importantly, she knows your voice. Research shows that the mother’s voice plays a crucial role in babies’ growth and development in the womb. Long before you hold your baby in your arms, you begin nurturing her through the power of your unique voice.
As an added bonus, you can be sure that by talking to your baby now, you are laying the foundation for future language and literacy skills, cognitive development and, best of all, a sweet, strong mother-and-child bond.
It is extremely important whether you conceived with love or by accident, because each soul that is birthed into this world is no accident or mistake or coincident.

“ The factors that influence the mental makeup of a child are the mental traits, purity , behavior of the family, cleanliness and purity of parents, the sounds that the fetus hears, the sounds and vibrations the pregnant women hears, and the karmic effects of the past lives of the foetus”...
Acharya Vagbhatta
Acharya Vagbhatta says that the collective set of emotions, thoughts, feelings and the sensory stimuli offered by the external environment shapes the mental makeup of your child. In this context , a pregnant woman and her caregiver must evaluate the television she watches, songs she listens to, people she meets and books and newspapers she reads and ask herself if each of these influences are positive and useful for the growing child.
Life in the womb is extremely active and interactive. Our ability to learn in inherent from even before birth; our first abode – the womb – 'is, in fact, a classroom.'
Factors Involved in Creating a Healthy Child :
According to Ayurveda, preparing for conception can be easily compared to the process of farming. Just like the health of a crop depends on the quality of soil, seed, proper timing of sowing and water (containing nutrient matter) gets, the health of a baby depends on the health of its parents. For a pregnancy to be healthy and successful, a couple needs to take care of the following four essential factors like Sperm / Ovum (Seeds) - Uterus (Soil) - Nourishment (Water) - Time for Conception (Timing of Sowing).....the time of conception, health of the reproductive organs of the female, beeja of mother, diet during pregnancy, drugs-medicines taken by a woman during her pregnancy, and any disease in the mother during her pregnancy, can affect the health and normalcy of a foetus .
In Ayurveda, it has also described the measures to be adopted month- by -month diet for the fetus which grows without any morbidity. Special herbal regimens are also prescribed for each month for softening of placenta, for nutritional supplement and also to help normal expulsion of fetus during delivery.
Ayurveda advices a wholesome diet for each month for the healthy growth of the baby in the mother’s womb.
Ayurveda prescribes some set of rules which are very important for every pregnant woman. It contains various details related to ahara (nutrition), vihara (lifestyle) and vichara (thought process) which women have to follow at the different stages of pregnancy.
A pregnant woman is to be treated very cautiously as if one is walking with a pot full of oil, in hand without letting a drop to fall. Medicines, diet and other therapies should be soft, sweet, cold, pleasant and tender.

Sensory development after birth
Evidence of early in-utero sensory development means we may be able to start influencing a baby's postnatal development based on the mother’s external sensory environment during pregnancy. We would do this by modifying factors such as maternal food intake or ambient music selection. However, the majority of an infant’s sensory development will still occur after birth. So while we can begin molding development early, the most impactful sensory stimulation will still occur once the baby exits the mother's womb!
