Abhyanga retards ageing, overcomes fatigue and annihilates effects of aggravated vata. It improves clarity of vision, nourishes the body. It promotes longevity, good sleep & good skin. Abhyanga acts on skin, which is the seat Vata. In this way the lymphatic drainage will be the prime effect of Abhyanga. The oxygen capacity of the blood can increase 10-15% by the procedure of Abhyanga. With the help of indirectly or directly stimulating nerves that supply internal organs, blood vessels of these organs dilate and allow more blood supply to them.
Abhyanga helps to move lymph.
Lymph is a milky white fluid that helps in draining of impurities and waste away from the tissue cells. A component of these wastes is called as toxins which are the by-products of metabolism. That’s why, it is a vital to our health. Muscular contraction is having a pumping effect that moves lymph.

ABHYANGA BODY TREATMENT

Health does not stand only for the freedom from diseases but it is called as healthy only when a person’s mind, sense organs and the soul are in a perfect state of equilibrium to endow happiness and the body is free from diseases. Abhyanga is the Ayurvedic ritual of massaging your entire body using oil. It promotes lymphatic drainage, helps to balance your Dosha and creates soft supple skin.

Abhyanga is a form of massage where medicated oils are infused into the skin or scalp.
Abhyanga is the therapeutic intervention of Panchakarma in which the body is treated with simple or medicated oil on particular body part according to need.
Abhynga provides huge benefits to the human body to make it strong and free of disease. Abhyanga is a selfcare ritual for anointing and nourishing the entire body. It stabilizes and relaxes the mind, alleviates parched skin, promotes improved circulation, and maintains the skin’s youthful glow. It helps to improve the vision, improves the health of eyes, beautifies and strengthens the skin.
It moves energy through the body, which helps to clear the lymph system (supporting the immune system and the body's ability to nourish the cells and release toxins), relaxes muscles, releases stagnation, and alleviates trapped emotions, initiating a deeper connection to self.
Abhyanga retards ageing, overcomes fatigue and annihilates effects of aggravated vata. It improves clarity of vision, nourishes the body. It promotes longevity, good sleep & good skin. Abhyanga acts on skin (helps to maintain the elasticity of skin), which is the seat of Vata. Abhyanga helps to improve the quality of skin by getting digested by the Bhrajaka Pitta.
Abhyanga beautifies skin and hair from the inner core, in a healthy way & acting as an excellent anti-ageing therapy.
Also Abhyanga heals damaged muscle, reduce pain and tension and induce a calming effect, nourishes Dhatus, pacifies the Doshas, relives fatigue, perfect sleep, nourishes all parts of the body, relieves physical and mental fatigue, improves the body complexion, improves the functioning of musculoskeletal system, clears stiffness and heaviness of the body and leads to feeling of lightness, helps in improvement of body figure, recuperates the body tissues and reduces body weight as well as fat, reduces the effect of trauma if any, improves eyesight, recuperates and nourishes the body tissues (by nourishing the body tissues Abhyanga prolongs one’s lifespan).
Acharya Charaka similes the human body as a wooden wheel which becomes much stronger by proper application of oil and thus prevents the wear and tear, in the same manner the Abhyanga process prevents the wear and tear or we can say prevents the degenerative changes of the body.
Abhyanga helps to move lymph:
If you really want to up your lymphatic drainage, abhyanga is key. You literally move the lymph around, and help it with the detoxification process. Lymph is on of the main tissues responsible for detoxification, and so ensuring it is moving properly is important if we want to stay healthy and strong for our life and our practice. Lymph is a milky white fluid that helps in draining of impurities and waste away from the tissue cells. A component of these wastes is called as toxins which are the by-products of metabolism. That’s why, it is a vital to our health. Muscular contraction is having a pumping effect that moves lymph. The body’s major purification systems work together, as the lymph nodes clear lymph, the digestive system alkalizes and clears toxicity by means of the GI tract, as the liver and kidneys purify the blood.
Any impediment to the natural flow of lymph leads to the build up toxic substances within the tissues of the body, which is a fundamental cause of disease. In the venous system, muscular contraction and a system of one way valves help to return blood to the heart. Lymphatic channels also contain a system of one-way valves similar to those found in veins. Lymphatic massage can succeed in increasing lymphatic flow in the direction of the heart and, it is believed, enhance lymphatic flow, aid in detoxification and promote relaxation. Lymph from every part of the body must ultimately pass through the nodal stations of the body and be processed by the immune system. Many pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and malignancies frequently involve the lymph nodes at some point in the disease process. The base of the neck, along the cervical chain, and beneath the mandible are frequent sites of viral and bacterial infections as well as malignancy and are also a important target of therapeutic lymphatic massage.
Abhyaga Body Treatment soothes the two master systems of the body, the nervous system and the endocrine system mainly. Nervous and endocrine systems are seen as communication systems connecting all cells with information about what is happening in the body, which provides knowledge and instructions for control and integration. This pleasure from touching is mediated through the limbic system which causes the secretion of hormones physically equivalent to health and happiness. Massage or touching, from the perspective of modern physiology, has been found to increase secretion of growth hormone.
Aacharya Charak adds that the body becomes exceptionally strong, capable of lifting heavy weigh its and youthful by regular oil massage. Acharya Sushruta also advocates the same regarding Abhyanga. He also states that the body becomes strong, toxin-free, Dhatus become nourished and Kapha and Vata Dosha are maintained in their proper proportion. Further he adds that the time period required for the oil to reach the roots of hair is 300 Matras, skin 400 Matras, blood 500 Matras, muscles 600 Matras, Meda Dhatu 700 Madras, bones 800 Matras and 900 Matras to reach the bone marrow and destroy various diseases.
All the benefits of Abhyanga are directly or indirectly related with the stimulation of autonomic nervous system and central nervous system.
“The body of one who uses oil massage regularly does not become affected much even if subjected to accidental injuries, or strenuous work. By using oil massage daily, a person is endowed with pleasant touch, trimmed body parts and becomes strong, charming and least affected by old age.” – Charaka Samhita Vol. 1 V 88-89

Ayurveda is a lifestyle science which endeavors towards preserving health and prevention and treatment of disease.
Beauty cannot reside inside a diseased body and mind. So the most important component of beauty is good health, which can only be achieved by maintaining a discipline in daily routine.

Shirodhara : Make every cell in your body awaken and rejoice!

Yogic centres in the body are described in the classics by name of Chakras. among these 7 Chakras, 2 Chakras are located in head. Ajna chakra and Sahasradara chakra by this we can hypothesized that, with SHIRODHARA probably these 2 chakras are getting stimulated and activating the hypothalamus functioning normally (hypothalamus plays a crucial role in many important functions, including: releasing hormones)). It influences sleep rhythm and behavioral pattern, nourishment to the sensory organs.

Ajna : The energy in this chakra represents psychic power, emotional intelligence and intuition. Additionally, the person embodies qualities of truth, clarity, non-attachment to material possessions, focus, and constancy. The third eye chakra is our connection to the spiritual world, which is situated at the center point between the eyebrows - referred to as the Third Eye – your point of intuition. It’s the access to clear thoughts and self-reflection and provides you inner guidance on your life path. It’s the control center and the seat of the mind, and the connection between body and mind. As such, it has a great spiritual significance as it’s said to unite the two major pranic forces in the body to open up the mind to inner stillness, divine sight and intuition. Without that integration, you stay trapped in the consciousness of ordinary reality and the realm of the senses.
A misaligned Ajna Chakra may result in confusion and express itself in physical symptoms such as headache, migraine, and dizziness. It may also lead to difficulties in following and trusting your intuition.
Balanced Ajna chakra With Shirodhara: There are feelings of wisdom, inner peace, spiritual awakening and awareness. You might feel closer to Spirit, and closer to your Self. It’s easy to sort the significant from the insignificant, creating intuitive knowledge and understanding. The third-eye chakra sits at the top of the spine between the eyebrows and relates to how we connect the external world with our internal dialogue.
To heal and purify this center, try our SHIRODHARA treatment to balance out the right and left sides of your brain. This helps you bring everything in toward the middle and feel your sense of alignment.
When the energy flow in the chakras is clear and unhindered, then a person’s body, mind and soul experience a sense of well-being. But, if the energy flow in the chakras is blocked, then, there is an imbalance in the person’s being. Yogis say that chakras are centers of spiritual energy.
Most of us have energetic blocks and imbalances as well as energy-sabotaging habits that prevent us from accessing our full vitality, which leads us to feel exhausted, scattered, dull… even ill...

This treatment combines Ayurvedic therapies to relieve neck and shoulder tension. The therapy begins with Abhyanga, a rhythmic body treatment which uses herbal oils to stimulate the circulation of blood, lymph and prana (energy). This is followed by Shirohara, during which a steady stream of oil is gently poured over the forehead to improve clarity of mind. Leave relaxed and refreshed, with a renewed sense of energy.
The goal is to clear blocks in these energy channels that cause a build-up of negative energy that are purported to cause ailments. When the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, anxiety, hypertension, baldness or hair loss.
The accumulated toxins that cause diseases are eliminated from the body and the tissues are nourished.
The physical human body does not only consist of bones, muscles, organs, and skin. It’s rather made up of various layers of energy fields surrounding the physical body. These layers are said to form the so-called subtle body, which is also called the energy body.
According to yogic beliefs, the human body has seven Chakras, which can be thought of as intersections of different energy channels. The life force, called Prana, travels through these channels or Nadis. Consequently, each Chakra is responsible for different behaviors and values in life, such as security, communication, compassion, and love. They’re also said to regulate various bodily systems and senses. Every Chakra is also associated with one of the Five Elements of Nature (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space) and represented by a color of the rainbow. If energy is blocked in one of the Chakras – due to bad habits or inhibiting environmental factors – this can result in emotional, mental, or even physical imbalances. These, in turn, may even become apparent in symptoms like anxiety, lethargy, digestive or other health issues....Shirodhara helps in unblock of energy..

UNDERSTAND FIVE ELEMENTS OF AYURVEDA TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

EARTH, WATER, FIRE, AIR, AND SPACE.

Which make up our constitutions of vata, pitta, and kapha.
Purifying The Five Elements Of Your Being With Ayurveda And Bring The Five Elements Into Harmony.
This Ayurveda program is designed to bring you more deeply in touch with your own true nature as you awaken, balance, and come into contact with all the energy that you are and you will activate the gifts of vitality, beauty, fluidity, strength, power, and creativity that only the elements can bring. So you can begin building a more intimate connection with the energy of each element.
It is said that understanding the theory behind these five elements of nature can help understand the laws of nature and to use this knowledge to achieve greater health and happiness.
Each element is responsible for different structures in the body. Earth forms solid structures, such as bones, flesh, skin, tissues, and hair. Water forms saliva, urine, semen, blood, and sweat. Fire forms hunger, thirst, and sleep. Air is responsible for all movement, including expansion, contraction, and suppression. Space forms physical attraction and repulsion, as well as fear.
If any element is impure or out of balance with another, disease and suffering may occur.
Earth
The element of Earth is usually referred to as grounding and calming. It keeps the ego in balance and regulates the energy of bones, muscles, and tissues and plays a role in inflammations and infections..........Imbalance in the EARTH element can lead to overall weakness in the body, high cholesterol, weight loss or weight gain, bone or muscular pain and issues.
Water
Water is characterized by its ability to flow, adapt, and bind substances as well as its healing nature that nourishes and binds the body. It regulates the blood and other bodily fluids and is associated with health conditions like joint pain........Imbalance in the element WATER can cause cold and sinusitis, asthma, swelling of glands, blood thinning or clotting.
Air
The element of Air acts as a channel for clear communication and self-expression. It’s responsible for breath, nervous impulses, and movement. It influences the ability to act with love and compassion.......Imbalance in the AIR element may result in nervous disorders and depression, blood pressure issues, lung disorders, or muscle pains and spasms.
Fire
The Fire element acts as a cleanser that burns up toxins and impurities, thereby keeping diseases at bay. It is the source of heat and power and brings confidence and courage. It’s the energy of your metabolism and creativity. Excess in Fire can express itself as anger or hatred..........Imbalance in the element FIRE can manifest itself as extreme variations in perceived temperature, coldness or fever, skin diseases, diabetes, or mental disorders.
Space
Space acts as the container for all the other elements and is the element from which all other elements originate, and to which they all return. It can be cold when lacking fire, dry when lacking water; it can be immobile due to lack of air, or lightweight because it lacks the heavy earth. It’s omnipresent since it’s the space between all the other elements.....Imbalance in the SPACE element can become visible as thyroid disorders, throat and speech problems, epilepsy, or ear diseases, etc.

THE PATH OF ENLIGHTENMENT WITH AYURVEDA

We are all on a ladder, either moving towards or away from Sattva. This is really the secret to all of existence, the meaning of life, or why we are here. Yes, that may be debatable, but you will note there is no discrimination. You don’t need to be a theist, a specific race or gender, have a certain upbringing, are a specific dosha, or any other such limitation to be Sattvic.

All you need to do is act in accordance with the highest, most virtuous version of yourself.
We have three bodies:
Yes, we have a physical body, a subtle body, and a causal body.
The Physical Body:
This one that is framed by our skeleton. The physical body is the densest, most tangible body we have. It is comprised of the 5 elements (earth, air, fire, water, and ether). This body is ruled by the doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha), needs food for fuel, corresponds with the Mahaguna of Tamas, since those in a tamasic state do actions only to please their senses.
The Subtle Body:
The subtle body is what houses our mind that doesn't mean the brain, that is in the physical body. Within each of us, we have a mindscape, an imagination, or a mind’s eye – The subtle body houses our thoughts, feelings, and imagination. It is governed by the subtle doshas - Prana, Tejas, and Ojas. Because of it’s dynamic and agitated nature, the subtle body corresponds with the Mahaguna of Rajas.
For every physical aspect we have, there is a subtle corresponding aspect. For example the Brain has the mind, the doshas have the subtle doshas, the nerves have the nadis (channels that affect the mind), etc, - the bridge between the body and mind is our breath. The correlation is easy to see, as an unstable breath can cause both the mind and body to malfunction (panic, hyperventilation, etc), and a stable breath can calm the mind and regulate the body’s functions.
The Causal Body:
This is the body that houses the seed of our connection to universal intelligence, truth, or god. The causal body is dictated by the laws of karma. This body is the most subtle and impossible to pinpoint. It connects us to that place where there is pure consciousness. If consciousness is an ocean, we are a wave in that ocean, feeling it’s separateness for a brief moment until we return to the ocean again, indistinguishable and whole. It is the brief moment that we are most disconnected, and strive to move closer towards the Mahaguna of Sattva, or enlightenment. Without the causal body, there would be no way to enlightenment.
Each body we have has it’s own challenges, and true health won’t ultimately arrive unless we address all three. Arguably, addressing solely the Causal body will align the other two regardless, but the path to that health of the Causal body is difficult without striving for health in the other two first. It’s a process. We have to transcend our physical pain via our diet, our mental imbalances via our thought patterns, and we have to overcome our rajasic or tamasic lifestyle by shedding our karma through that sattvic way.
Much like the Physical and Subtle body are connected via our breath, there is a bridge between our subtle body and our causal body where upon sits the The Buddhi: Our organ of interpretation. This Buddhi is responsible for sorting information either to serve the mind or to serve our higher consciousness. The more we use The Buddhi to move towards Satva, the closer we come to our enlightenment. The more we move towards the mind, the more Rajasic we become as we feed the ego. It’s the difference between treating everything as a meditation, or treating everything as a problem to solve.
All our three bodies are connected, and to focus solely on our physical body and forgetting the others will never bring us complete health. But working first on the body can alleviate much unnecessary suffering and pave the way for us to heal the mind and spirit. This is what Ayurveda can help you with as you pursue your spiritual goals. Nothing is completely separate, and everything is connected. What effects the body effects the mind which in turn affects our personal journey, for better or worse.
If we are living in harmony with the rhythms of life, the nature of our service varies with our stage of life. During our formative years (kapha time), our primary role is to learn and grow. At this age, we generally take more than we give. This is natural.
It is during the second phase of life that Ayurveda calls it the pitta phase. This phase begins biologically between the ages of 13 and 16 though we generally don’t enter this phase in modern society till between the ages of 18 and 22.
During the third phase of life, nature has intended for us to reflect upon the work we have provided and the life we have lived. This is the vata time of life. This period generally begins between the ages of 55 and 70. During this time of our lives, each person benefits most by spending more time in meditation and reflection and cultivating their spiritual connection. The person in their vata time of life, reflecting upon what they have learned, now has a responsibility to share and pass on the wisdom and experience they have gained.
Ayurveda is much more than a science of understanding what foods are right for you. It is a science of using health as the basis of one’s journey toward enlightenment.
Ayurveda is capable of assisting in the healing of many conditions as well as extending life itself.

Ayurvedic psycho-spirituality is based on the idea that we are all souls growing and evolving toward enlightenment or reunification with God. It is our spiritual journey to move from dark to light, from ignorance to awareness, or from tamas to sattvic.
Ayurveda prescribes many regimens to bring about harmony or sattva in our lives. These regimens are numerous-recommended actions include eating slowly in a peaceful environment, using proper aroma and color therapy, going to bed early, awakening with the sun or earlier, applying oil to the body, meditating, doing yoga, and many more.
Ayurveda advocates that living in harmony with nature and maintaining harmony between body, mind and spirit contribute to a long and healthy life. Any imbalance in this harmony results in disease. The focus of Ayurveda is on preventive and curative aspects as well a wholistic approach to treatment.

DETOX & REFULED YOUR BODY WITH MORE OJAS AND GET RID OF BUILT UP TOXINS (AMA).

OJAS : ESSENTIAL FOR LASTING HELTH

Ojas is a concept in Ayurveda that refers to the purest essence of each of the tissues of the body.
Ojas Is Your Saving Account : Fueled Your Body With Ojas : Later On Your Ojas Refuled Your Energy Back When You Needed Most
Think about all the daily activities you do in your life – basic ones like eating, sleeping, breathing, work and play. Where does the energy for these activities come from? How do we fuel our day to day lives?
Your body can be fueled in one of two ways:
– By your daily diet and lifestyle practices
– By your ojas
Think if ojas as a sort of savings account that we have built up. When times are tough and if you’re sick or stressed or tired – you can dip into your ojas for the energy you need. Doing this once in a while is okay, after all, that’s what the savings account is there for. But when you live a depleting lifestyle, serving only your sensory pleasures, you wind up dipping into your ojas not as a rainy day fund, but as a necessity. It gets depleted quickly. Without proper levels of ojas, you cannot contain the prana and tejas within us. When those run rampant, they cause us to have high levels of energy, crashes of exhaustion, and make us more prone to disease in body and mind. I’ll say it again – you protect your ojas and your ojas will protect you!
Ojas are like muscles – they are not going to build themselves! In the physical body we primarily build ojas through diet, oils, and exercise. In the subtle body, where our thoughts and emotions rule, we build ojas through our thoughts, rest, and pranayama (breathing practices). In the same way air flows through tubes in our body, prana flows through nadis. Doing pranayama helps to strengthen the walls of the nadis, which are made of ojas. Just like working out any muscle! But we must be careful not to overdo it, as with any practice.
Think of ojas as a sort of savings account that we have built up. When times are tough – you’re sick or stressed or tired – you can dip into your ojas for the energy you need. Doing this once in a while is okay, after all, that’s what the savings account is there for. But when we live a depleting lifestyle, serving only our sensory pleasures, we wind up dipping into our ojas not as a rainy day fund, but as a necessity. It gets depleted quickly. Without proper levels of ojas, we cannot contain the prana and tejas within us. When those run rampant, they cause us to have high levels of energy, crashes of exhaustion, and make us more prone to disease in body and mind. I’ll say it again – you protect your ojas and your ojas will protect you!
We can always make choices that drive us out of balance. This is especially true for lifestyle. Our ojas won’t really help us when it comes to our mental and emotional choices. However, our ojas can be dipped into when we make poor dietary choices.
Let explain you in easy way to understood:
A person who eats nothing but fast food will have high ama and low ojas. Then that person decides one day to eat a healthy meal. The body will be so starved for nutrition that they cannot possibly make ojas out of it. Those nutrients need to go towards repairing the damage and ridding the toxicity from the system. It won’t be enough either. Remember, it can take up to 35 days for the body to completely process the food we eat into the tissues of our body. Low quality diet such as this will produce low quality tissues. It’s going to take time to make better tissues, and a steady healthy diet.
On the other side:
If you eat healthy pretty much every day, every meal. Your body doesn’t have many toxins to get rid of, and therefore can store this high quality tissue building material for later. You have high ojas. One day, you are out with friends and decide that you are going to cheat a little, and have some pizza or Fst food. Your body has so many reserves to dip into that this one slip up is merely a blip in the radar.
Avoid Eating Junk Foods Which Depletes Your Ojas:
If amas are the toxins of the body, ojas can be thought of as almost the inverse. Ojas are the reserves of energy in your body, and connected with strength of the immune system. As a general rule, we want to avoid putting things into the body that produce toxins (such as junky foods in our diet) and consume that which will first pacify the imbalances we have, and ultimately will produce more ojas. A person who eats nothing but fast food will have high ama and low ojas.....So more ojas = healthy
Whatever doshas are out of balance in our body will determine what kinds of foods you need to eat. However, as a good rule of thumb, it is Kapha foods (heavy, moist, dense, along with nutritious), that will produce ojas. Our body will have a hard time producing high quality or quantity of tissues out of crackers or soda (Vata foods) or greasy and fried foods (pitta). It needs the qualities of Kapha to do it. But don’t be saddened if you think Vata and Pitta get no love! They just govern different functions. Without Pitta, we would not have metabolism, and without Vata, we wouldn’t have circulation. We are all three doshas, each and every one of us.

It has been so great to share Ayurveda with all of you, specially during this time, where sudden change and adjusting to a new way of living (and being) can throw us off balance. Let’s discover the ways this ancient wisdom can guide us back to our natural state of equilibrium.

The corona virus has turned the world upside down, impacting all of us. Are there measures you can use from Ayurveda that positively strengthen yourself and your community? In the face of COVID-19 Ayurveda responses weigh in on the side of health.
Ayurveda and it's strengths are in the creation of vital health, the prevention of disease, the ability to tailor methods to suit individual circumstances, and its improvement of chronic conditions. I am practicing Ayurveda since 34 years.
Following are the elements that also help us maintain a strong immune system with Ayurveda in COVID 19 pandemic times. This immune strength serves both ourselves and others.
With Ayurveda we assess three doshas, our unique combination of biological energies inside, and then work with opposites to bring them back into balance on an individual level. At the same time we work together as best we can to resolve challenges. We practically focus to prevent the spread of the virus while strengthening immunity at the community as well as individual levels.
Current COVID 19 pandemic has to deal with the Vata Dosha. Vata is light, cool, dry, flexible, curious – and panicky when out of balance. If you’re finding yourself working with fear or worry, from an Ayurvedic perspective it’s Vata you have to calm. Creating conditions of safety, security, and warmth as much as you can, help settle Vata. Over stimulation aggravates Vata. You easily might need more time in nature and less on the Web. Ayurveda in COVID 19 world conditions is about wisdom.
Vata try to interacts with our vital immunity, which is known as ojas in Ayurveda. Ojas is more than physical immunity. It is that deep core sense of unflappability that is not easily swayed by upsets, changes, what have you. As Vata increases, ojas shrinks. The more anxious we become, our defenses – physical, emotional, mental, social – go down. Nurturing ojas also helps bring Vata back into balance. A hot cup of soothing almond milk is win-win. It builds ojas and calms Vata. A good night’s sleep is the same. Energetically, Vatas faithfully follow the qualities of its element Space and Air. As space expands air flows slower, as space constricts, air flows faster. This is key to remedy the Vata dosha tendencies as we can be excessively prone to churning thoughts, variable digestion, constipation and heightened circulation.....If you don’t know your body type, schedule your consultation....9773170560/9825463394
Stress Management.
Reduce and manage stress.Immune function and breathing are closely linked to stress. Focusing on stress reduction techniques are always beneficial...book our SHIRODHARA treatment for stress management.
SLEEP IS IMPORTANT FOR IMMUNITY
Sleep has a major impact on ojas and immunity. We all need a good amount of exercise to be able to get a decent night’s sleep. Trading in a half hour or more in front of the computer, smart phone, or TV in exchange for a vigorous walk in nature can make a difference in how deeply you sleep. Try this for a full week if you can. Ensure adequate sleep. When you have symptoms of a cold or flu it is common to require more sleep. When you sleep, your body produces essential immuno-proteins called cytokines, which act as infection-fighting antibodies necessary to keep the body healthy. Get plenty of rest. 7- 9 hours, friends. Sleep is medicine.
AYURVEDIC DIET
Proper nutrition lays out the foundation for healthy bodily functions and strong immunity. Vital energy and immunity are in the Ayurveda tradition related to the sanskrit word “ojas” which indicates “essence” or what Ayurveda likes to call “the juiciness and sweetness of life”. We can receive nourishment from rest and rejuvenating (rasayana), whole foods, nature, wholesome practices or sadhanas - meditation, yoga, movement, mindful eating, breath-work, reflection...., and the list goes on, maybe now it’s a good time to hit pause, and ask: what does nourishment mean to you? and how do you nourish your being?
Each of us has all three of the three biological energies or doshas within us, Vata, Pitta, Kapha. Vata is cold and dry, Pitta’s hot and oily, Kapha is cold and damp. Ayurveda balances with opposites. Yet how can any diet work well with all these different qualities? By being tasty yet prudent. Ayurvedic cooking relies on generous amounts of veggies, fruits, grains, legumes, with a well-chosen blend of spices and modest amounts of nuts, seeds, and dairy . Very spicy, rich or deep-fried foods are minimized when balancing all three doshas and building immunity.
Establish a pranayama or breath-work practice:
As an Ayurvedic/Yoga practitioner, I know the power of breath. Breath is nourishment available to the mind and body at any time. Take a moment to tune into your breath. Place a hand over your heart and allow the slow, calming rhythm of your inhale and exhale to bring you into loving presence. Make sure you add this resource to your mindfulness practice and keep breathing!
If you’re feeling angry or stuck in the midst of this pandemic, your Pitta (anger) or Kapha (stuck quality) may need some re-balancing. Two common healers for both Pitta and Kapha are movement and bitter taste. Fresh air is also cool and light this time of year, perfect for Pitta and Kapha, as is a cooling mist. Another kind of calming influence is pranayama. One very simple pranayama is just breathing out a longer exhale than our inhale. It enhances our relaxation responses.
Excellent nutrition is a big step toward having excellent immunity. In COVID-19 Ayurveda nutrition works to prevent, minimize, and heal infection. In COVID-19 Ayurveda nutrition may mean something different for you than it has before. How can nourishment be a support for healing both for yourself? Call for consultation..9773170560/9825463394
In Ayurveda, healthy nourishing foods and fluids are key to building ojas, our vital protective immunity. Ojas includes both physical immunity yet also mental and emotional resilience. When our ojas is strong, we are better able to maintain courage and calm in the face of difficult conditions.
I have emphasized that correcting and preventing nutritional deficiencies is essential to improve our overall immune status and protect ourselves well. Emotional and mental support are part of nourishment.
To support optimal health with fresh air, nature, healthy food, enjoyable movement, and a clear mind & heart, that also help us maintain a strong immune system with Ayurveda in COVID 19 pandemic times.
Antioxidant-rich foods provide general immune support. The anti-oxidant nutrients include vitamin A and beta carotene, vitamin C, selenium, and zinc. Golden vegetables and fruits that you enjoy, like carrots, beets and apricots are great sources of mucus-membrane supportive beta-carotenes. Dark leafy greens are excellent as well. The macro-mineral magnesium, when deficient, causes us to feel tired yet wired. Nuts, seeds, seaweeds, and dark leafy greens are all friendly sources. A magnesium supplement before bedtime is a method employed by many to enhance sleep.
Sunflower seeds, brown rice, spinach, mushrooms, and eggs are other tasty sources of selenium.
Omega 3 fatty acids is a wise one as well, both for moistening inner organs and calming the inflammation that is part of the coronavirus illness. In COVID-19 recovery Ayurveda uses moist Omega 3 fatty acids would counter the dryness and inflammation, as a lubricating anti-inflammatory substance. Omega-3 rich foods nourish both mood and immunity. They create a healthy foundation for ojas, our vital immunity.
From the perspective of COVID-19 recovery Ayurveda, one needs to support not only the respiratory system, yet also the digestive system, nerves, and the heart and circulation (Rasa and Rakta dhatus in Ayurvedic terms).
Steady self-care is a way to root and ground in our health. Ayurveda has countless methods for self-care, no way we’re going to do all of them! Some top ones I think of as COVID-19 Ayurveda responses include: gargle first thing in the morning with turmeric-salt water (1/2 teaspoon of each in a half cup warm to hot water). This is antibiotic and a great way to hold off a potential sore throat. Other favorite self care methods I’d recommend: oil pulling, as well as abhyanga, oil body treatment as I would target the neck, upper shoulders, spine and lower back areas, to enhance immunity and support healthy calm.
Lymphatic Care With Abhyanga: Remember the practice of abhyanga which I talked about in past status? Abhyanga is a great tool that focuses on stimulating the lymph and circulation, and in doing so, we move the waters of the body, nurturing each cell and internal organ. This practice, besides being very therapeutic and blissful, keeps the bodily tissues (dhatus), the place in the body that stores ojas, healthy.
Insomnia and diabetes, two conditions that put one more at risk for tougher response to the coronavirus.
To support mild manifestations of COVID-19 recovery Ayurveda would of necessity counter tissue inflammation. There are a variety of ways to do this, including Omega 3s and anti-oxidant nutrients. Another excellent natural response is the Ayurvedic herbs and medicines. It effectively counters a variety of types of tissue inflammation, works best in acute or chronic conditions of disease, rather than as a preventive.
Oxygen nourishes every cell. In COVID-19 recovery Ayurveda works with the breath. Gentle pranayama is essential here, nothing harsh or fast. While Kapalabhati, Breath of Fire, is excellent if you’re well and want to increase digestive fire and efficiency, it is not recommended during acute coronavirus infection. It can feel too dry in this situation. Instead, gentle alternate nostril breath can be tried, inhaling as deeply and slowly as is comfortable for the affected person.
Disconnect to Reconnect: This point emphasizes the idea of resting and rejuvenating, which in Ayurveda is known as “rasayana”, on a daily basis. Spend time away from the screen and the doing mode we constantly find ourselves engaging with, and give yourself permission to have a breather....a moment to recharge. To optimize healthy organ responses, unplug periodically from the Internet, both with your smart phone and also computer. Now this could be a particularly great time to come back into Ayurveda healing balance. Unplug overnight or try a weekly “fast” of a day without internet to reduce exposure, experiment with an hour off, say when you’re in nature. Fresh air is win-win. Steadily give yourself longer periods with more fresh air and less radiation. Right now more than ever we’re in our heads a lot and things feel overwhelming. Watch out for behaviors that you tend to over indulge on whether it’s alcohol, food, social media, video games whatever it may be - just know your triggers and be careful. Choose activities that are mindful and that you can be fully present for.
Ayurveda aims to align practitioners with nature and with its cycles and rhythms. The reason for that is because this ancient wisdom observes that natural elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth) are also present in the human body, giving physical and mental qualities. Each person has their own combination of these elements, which makes up their constitution or dosha. If we take into consideration that nature changes season to season and that within the human body, elements of nature manifest, then we too change, and for that particular reason what we eat and do shifts from season to season. Right now, we’re in a time of transition, and according to Ayurveda, this is the perfect time to prepare the body for what’s to come and for what we intend to grow and harvest later on (within the inner garden).
Keep a strong agni or metabolic fire: another important one, agni is also known as the seat of action, it lives in the solar plexus, and for it to perform assimilation and absorption of the food we eat and lived experiences we gotta keep its flame enkindled. When agni is low, energy level drops, affecting our ability to take action and handle stress; when agni is balanced it allows us to move forward with clarity of mind, courage, excitement, and good health. Mindful eating, solar plexus asanas and movement in general, as well as spicing up our foods with ginger, long pepper, cinnamon can help strengthen agni.
Stay well hydrated: the human body comprises up to 60% of water. We need this vital liquid for our bodily systems to run steadily, for our immunity to be strong, and to flush toxins out of the body. Hydration tip: add 2Tbsp of our Ayurvedic herbs/seeds to your water and drink throughout the day. They help absorb water into cells and support the growth of the flora in the gut, where our immune system lives.
Try our Daily Ayurvedic Routine/Rituals,Ayurvedic principles/Yogic teachings for healthy lifestyle which contributes to decreased susceptibility. Each day is an opportunity to recommit to your routine. Each moment of the day you can start over. You can choose to start fresh. At the end of the day take a moment to reflect on your day and come back to your gratitude practice and reflect once again on what you are grateful for.
ESSENTIAL RASA TEA FOR THESE TIMES
In Ayurveda, we build the rasa/plasma steadily, to nourish all the other tissues of the body. This classic tea is excellent for preventing dehydration and supporting recovery. We generally add on this tea at the time of consultation of COVID 19
